Propel for Palm OS
Propel is a new program launcher for the Palm operating system. It offers a better overview of the currently loaded tools, applications and games on your Palm. Propel also offers an assortment of tools which which were missing from the old version of Launcher.
In the last few years Palm handhelds have become increasingly more powerful. With insertable SD memory cards the memory can be increased as much as the user wants. Unfortunately, the application launcher as the command centre for the Palm hasn't grown along with the times- it's not enough to give the user the perfect overview of current programs and files. Propel is just the thing to remedy this.
The menu organises the program categories in several levels which are simply layered on top of each other and indicated by registry info. A tap with the stylus is enough to change from one category to another. A second tap chnages from the icon to the list view, a better option for those with a lot on their plate, since more items can be viewed at once this way. Drag and drop icons from one category to another to clean up the system even more.
A permanently built in symbol bar allows other propel functions to be accessed. It's possible to take a look at programs and files on the memory card, get an overview of saved music files and search for music, or view the last accessed files. Another great function is the possibility to mark files or programs as favorites, making it easy to launch what you want, when you want it without a lot of tedious searching.
A trash can is ready to delete all of the unwanted junk you find with Propel. It's also possible to rename applications, beam data to another device per infrared or transfer marked items between the RAM and memory card. Another very useful function is the possibility to transfer especially large files over to the memory stick.
What else is there? With Propel the user can get a hold of calls, e-mail, contacts and access other files. A thorough system analysis is always ready to quickly discover how much free memory remains or how much battery power is still present.
On the go it's especially difficult to concentrate on the display of the Palm. With the Professional Edition of Propel there's also a voice command function which makes it easy to run all of Propel's functions just by speaking.
